Realmuto explained that his decision to remain unvaccinated stemmed from the fact that he is "a healthy 31-year-old, professional athlete."
"I just didn't feel the need to get it," he said.

Philadelphia will be without the bat of the 2021 All-Star, who has posted a .240/.313/.371 slash line this season with seven homers. Meanwhile, Realmuto will also forfeit roughly $260,000 in total salary because of the two missed games. That value is derived from the per-game value of the five-year, $115 million contract he signed in January of 2021. That pays him $23.875 million per year.
