Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas turned in a gem for the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night in the second leg of a doubleheader against the Pirates, but he was a strike away from etching his name in the record books.

With two outs left in the top of the ninth inning, in a 9-1 game, Mikolas gave up a deep drive into centerfield off the bat of Pirates right fielder Cal Mitchell, which weMLB T-Shirts nt over the head of rangy centerfielder Harrison Bader for a ground rule double and ended Mikolas' bid.

"Yeah, it kinda stinks to not finish that out," he said postgame. "I don't have one yet, I've got friends that have them, it woulda been nice to join that conversation.
