There are bench-clearing "brawls" and then there are bench-clearing brawls. The latter is what the Angels and Mariners got into Sunday afternoon.

Angels pitcher Andrew Wantz hit Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker in the buttocks in the second inning. It was likely in retaliation for Angels outfielder Mike Trout's tower being buzzed Saturday night by an Erik Swanson fastball. Trout took issue with the near-miss, saying that pitchers should know where to hit batters if it comes to that.

Well, Trout's message was well-received. Wantz also threw behind Seattle outfielder Julio Rodriguez in the first inning, earning a warning from the umpires.

Soon after Winker was plunked, the outfielder seemed to take issue with the Angels' bench and manager Phil Nevin before storming the dugout.

In all, eight players and coaches were ejected for the kerfuffle. Nevin, Wantz and relievers Raisel Iglesias and Ryan Tepera were tossed from the womens atlanta braves jersey Angels.
