Oftentimes, bench-clearing brawls in baseball are anything but "brawls." Typically, they're just dust-ups at worst, or confrontations at best.

On Thursday, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets' Double-A affiliate) and Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox's Double-A affiliate) lived up to the "brawl" part.

Pitcher Marcel Renteria hit infielder Tyreque Reed on the hand with a pitch. Some words were shared after that, leading to the 5-11, 185-pound Renteria eating a right hand from the 6-1, 250-pound Reed like a tasty sandwich.

After coming to his senses, Renteria was still seeing red. He executed a double-leg takedown on David Hamilton. The brawl would be defused soon after by Binghamton and Portland players.
