Jerar Encarnación made this year's FMLB Toysather's Day one to remember in New York. The 24-year-old Marlins rookie outfielder joined an exclusive club by logging a grand slam for his first career hit.
In the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Mets at Citi Field, New York reliever Seth Lugo left a fastball on the outer half of the plate, which the right-handed-hitting Encarnación lined the other way to give Miami a 4-1 lead.

Encarnación was called up by Miami on Friday after playing in 26 games for Triple-A Jacksonville, where he slashed .260/.336/.442 with five home runs. He began the season at Double-A Pensacola, where he slashed .358/.427/.583 with eight home runs.
The Marlins signed Encarnación out of the Dominican Republic in 2015. He has been making waves since 2019 when he displayed his power in the minors. But inconsistency at the plate kept him from the majors until this season.
